Olie Bassweight, one of the original aotearoa dubstep pioneers, has been crafting his production, DJing and skills for nearly 12 years. He launched his own imprint, Bassweight Recordings, in 2006, because of the ridiculous amount of great New Zealand dubstep that was emerging at the time. Olie launched Bassweight Recordings with New ...Zealand's first ever dubstep release. Discovering and bringing to the world artists such as Optimus Gryme, Organikismness, Consequence, Helixir, P vans, RQ, along with numerous others, Olie Bassweight has proved to be an undeniable force in the world of dubstep / electronica. Support for the Bassweight Recordings has been immense, with backing from some of the biggest players in the game over the last few years. Olie has played alongside artists such as: Scuba, The Bug & Warrior Queen, Plastician, Excision, Antiserum, 16 Bit, The Gas Lamp Killer, Kode 9, Loefah, Nero, SPL, Digital, Dj Distance, Kryptic Minds, Mark Pritchard, Cotti, L.D, Amit, Gridlok, Temper D, Klute, Dieselboy, A sides, Outrage, Black sun Empire, Dylan & Robyn Chaos. Olie's tight mixing and rudebwoy selections have cemented his place as one of the busiest DJs in New Zealand, having a constant touring schedule playing the Australian and New Zealand Club & Festival circuit. If all these gigs and label work wasn't enough, he has also released his own music on numerous different labels including: Bassweight Recordings, Stupid Fly Records, Rottun Recordings, Optimus Gryme Recordings, Betamorph Recordings, Anomaly Recordings, Empathy Recordings, and Substruk Recordings.

SOULWARE
BASSWEIGHT | OPTIMUS GRYME

Somewhere between Pink Floyd, Klute and Trinity Roots, you will find an experimental dub electronica project entitled Soulware, started by Harry Bretherton aka Organikismness in 2009. Soulware represents a blend of dubstep, electronica and psychedelic rock served up in a way only Aotearoa can, with deep atmospheric driving bass, heavy dub lushness malleable to any landscape or listeners.
Soulware incorporates live instrumentation, digital synthesis and jamming with a host of guest vocalists from New Zealand such as Ras Judah, Billyfluid, Stepa, JB Nasty to name a few. Be it a Dj set or Live set, Soulware’s performances will take you somewhere special every time.
Soulware’s forthcoming LP will mark a milestone of dub fusion like few before it; watch out for this release before the end of the year and also collaborations with Optimus Gryme, Grouch, Olie Bassweight, Wickedraw, Rhythmonyx coming out on Bassweight and Optimus Gryme recordings.
