BoxFresh Live #4
Following on from the outstanding success of this series of shows, BoxFresh Live returns for its fourth and final instalment on September 2nd in The Atrium Bar at the Piano Theatre.
We are very pleased to be working in partnership with the Christchurch Arts Festival for this event, which will also feature as part of their 2017 Festival program.
As with previous BoxFresh Live events, we will have artists perform an intimate unplugged style set, in front of a live audience. The acts will be filmed and recorded, and then the footage will be released on-line, with an aim to showcase some of our city’s exceptional musical talent.
Adam McGrath is a folk singer stationed wherever he lands. He travels the state highways and byways of New Zealand, Australia, Europe and parts beyond, slinging songs and offering up low rent barroom philosophy with his band of misfits and chancers, The Eastern. He hopes for the best, prepares for the worst and believes in the poetry of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and the fury of word on the page. His songs have gathered a clutch of good reviews in NZ and overseas, he's been nominated for a couple of serious music awards (including the Apra Silver Scroll), Graham Reid from the NZ herald called him 'NZ's toughest minded songwriter’.
Andrew and Victoria Knopp are the duo that makes up Christchurch based indie-pop act, The Response. Their dynamic live show has allowed the duo to share the stage with such acts as Baio (of Vampire Weekend fame), Deep Sea Diver (Seattle), Big Scary (Australia) and Kate Boy (Sweden).
The Response wields a wide range of sounds, from reverb drenched synth pop and fuzzed-out guitars, and brought together by a strong song-writing voice drawing influence from dominant indie acts such as Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire and Sufjan Stevens.
