Ownglow bio:

Illuminating the dance since 2014: Sam Reeves has travelled at light speed to achieve the position he finds himself in today.

From Arizona to Hackney; the artist known as Ownglow was aged just 17 when he moved to London, drum & bass music’s spiritual stomping ground. Three years of performing at illegal desert raves, a mean side-hustle in graphic design, a deep love for all shades of innovative electronic and a gold score in a S.P.Y remix competition to his name… It was enough to make a leap of faith.

Now aged 21, Reeves is recognised as a leading light in drum & bass’s exciting new-generation wave of vital talent. His blooming back-cat packs cuts on Drum&BassArena, Hospital Records, UKF, Pilot, Spearhead and NCS and his signature sound is honed further with each dispatch. Inspired by the UK cultural melting pot he now calls home, each release reveals a different, deeper shade of his musical psyche: From the moody hues of his darker, pensive work such as ‘LA’ and ‘Strip It Down’ to the evocative soaring sci-fi soul of tracks like ‘Mercy’, each new release sees Sam digging deeper into drum & bass artform, making his own mark on the ever-developing genre.

His position as a DJ has developed with the same acceleration. As passionate about the craft of playing music as he is writing it; Reeves is just at home at the controls of Bristol’s legendary venue Motion as he is touring the US for Hospitality or shelling down rollers at Building Six for UKF or Finsbury Park for Hospitality In The Park. With a reputation for razor-sharp four-deck sessions, and deep-drawing selection style that belies his years, his meticulous mixcraft matches the diverse and deeply considered output currently emanating from his studio, Sam reflects the glaring sonic spectrum his name has hinted at all along. And he’s only warming up…
